Saving Money on Takeaways

The best way to save money on takeaways is to not buy any. It's good to have one or two meals that are quick to prepare, and even if you don;t have the ingredients- to pick them up, and arrange them in to a meal doesn't take much more time than picking up takeaways, or eating out.

Still, there are times when takeaways lighten the load, but the idea is that they don't break the bank, or cost the same as 2 days groceries.

PIZZA

Our family all like pizza. This is problematic for 4/5 us because of food intolerances, and for dh since he needs a lot of pizza to feel full.

Our plan from now on, is to have have pizza 1 (or possibly 2) times a fortnight. But we will have it on Sunday night. This gives us all something to look forward to, and we can take advantage of the best special on offer at Domino's...hawaiian (dh and the kids' favourite) pizzas are $5.90 each. We will buy 2- one plain one "Diablo" (spicy), and supplement with homemade chips and salad.

This means takeaways for 5 for only $11.80. I think it is the most economical, and there are no leftovers, and the boxes can be composted.

More to come...
